Wow you ladies have a lot of pairs of socks. Would love to know how many pairs you each have, from Bernadette
Thank you so much ladies for another fabulous episode! I have to watch after the event due to timezone differences, but I so appreciate being able to listen to the happy chatter while I take the time to unwind. I am a full-time care for my 88 yr old mother, so I have very little "me" time. It’s my little treat to myself to watch the show when can finally knock off for the day. Big hugs to you both from Darwin, Down Under … 🥰🌴🌴🌴 P.S. We are in the middle of winter here, and our daily temps are still in the 30’s (Celsius). We freeze when it drops below 20 hehehe … 😂
Thank you so much Jen, I was once where you are for my father so I understand how treasured a little "me time" can be and am honored that you choose to spend it with us. Take good care ~ Kelly
LOL , need a drinking game , each week we get to have a glass of wine each time there is a project shown with a yarn we can't get (discontinued)
Sorry! We do have to use our stash too though, and we will always try to recommend a replacement yarn. Just keep the wine bottle handy...wink!
@@KnitsnPieces 😆 I shall
It is our Anniversary on June 29th too!...50 years
Happy Anniversary to you and hubby too! Hope you doing something fun that day!
Kelly, I’ve just knit a top with the berroco chai. How do you wash yours? So far I’ve just packed in cold water and air dried.
I just put it in my sink with some Soak wool wash, squeeze dry and lay it out on some blocking boards under a ceiling fan. The Soak seems to help with keeping the linen soft.
TU for a very enjoyable podcast❤❤❤
Glad you enjoy it! Happy Knitting!
I knitted my hair of Smaug socks in 2016, big fan of lord of the ring and of Smaug in particular.. We just had a family discussion about how people are quick to complain but very slow at praising. I loved everything about the pattern so I wrote her to say so. She was kind enough to write back to say I made her day. She was wondering if she should keep on making patterns and I gave her the answer. She also gifted me a book of her pattern. Still ware my Smaug and they are my favorite still but I will have to make another pair soon.
Sometimes it can be worth doing Eastern purls to prevent rowing out rather than changing your needle size.
I've used Lion Brand Cotton Bamboo Linen for a summer tee... it's been great! Maybe because it's not as high a percentage of the bamboo?
Good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for another great episode that helped as I am officially “grudge knitting,” as my husband calls it, on an Artus shawl. Why on earth am I knitting with wool when the weather is hovering at or near 100 degrees here in North Carolina? I have a Derecho in Remix Light almost finished and then I will add Cloud Nine to my list; I have 6 skeins of Chai ready to go. Have a great week and happy knitting! Cheers!
Ah, the Artus Shawl is high on my list of want to make...but not in the summer, you're a real trooper!
@@KnitsnPieces Thank you. I love how it is coming together and I learned a few things. Wishing you both a great weekend. Cheers!
Thanks again for a great podcast. I have tried to knit the Pyramid Light and have not been successful. I am struggling with the "purlwise-kfb". I've looked at the designer's video. I seem to be doing it correctly, but it looks terrible. I've frogged three attempts. Any suggestions?
I have a full set of interchangeable Takumi bamboo needles. Now that I'm beginning sweaters, I want to try metal. Would you suggest getting the interchangeable chaiogoo needles or just try one size in metal to see if I like them? If so, what size needle?
Hi Kelly, I would suggest just trying one needle first before purchasing a whole set. Pick a size that corresponds to the weight of yarn that you like to knit with the most.
Thank you ladies! You both look gorgeous in your summer tops. Hoping that the stormy weather is behind you. Happy knitting!!!
Thank you so much! We are reaching our peak summer storm time in July so I'm sure we'll have a few more to get through. Have a great week Beth
Another great podcast ladies, thank you. From Scotland, didn’t manage to stay up but enjoyed the recording with my morning coffee!
Glad you enjoyed it
Kelly don’t know if you know that bead thing is like twice sheared sheep’s marker that you hand on needles, changing/slipping into next number chain as you go counting the rows. If you need more than 10, the little marker is the reminder for teens, twentys, etc
That's a great idea Elise! Thank you!
Kelly, what are the clogs you like to wear?
Lotta Clogs from Stockholm...and they're having a sale right now too!
I do not like ranunculus pattern. Will never make a second one
Me either.
Interesting! What was it about the sweater that didn't appeal to you?
I love using chain row counters when knitting in the round. Barbara
I'm enjoying mine too!
Thank you for another lovely knitchat. Beautiful tees that you were wearing, I was knitting on a Misurina that I started last summer and lost interest in as soon as there was a hint of autumn in the air, I think my summer knit desire window is so short that I only manage to make one a year at most, but so many lovely patterns!
I'm always envious of knitters who are knitting ahead of a season, I want to be that knitter but somehow just can't get there! Enjoy whatever project you are making...that is my motto! ~ Kelly
I use that exact same row counter from Amazon. I found that I do not always need a 10 row counter so I took the second one (two in a pack) and split it in half. I find a shorter one is easier to manage if the longer one is not needed. I now have a 10 row and 2 - 5 row counters. I love them as I never am left wondering if I have marked it in Knit Companion. I enjoy your show and watch every week!
Thank you Karen, that's a great idea!
Thank you for your very informative and enjoyable podcast. Miss you guys already. Take care.
Thank you so much Marie!
Kelly, if you connect the two ends of the row counter chain to make a circle (so that it's like a bracelet) it won't feel as heavy or cumbersome hanging from your knitting needles. Also, I love your purple sweater! The Tolsta is in my queue 💜
Thank you so much! And that's a great idea with the stitch counter!
Thank goodness for replays!
Right, I fell asleep watching the live stream 😮
Ha! We'll have to work harder to keep you awake! Wink!
Sorry Noelle spelled name wrong but just love your tops,Beautiful.
I missed the live! Watching replay! Love both your sweaters!
Thank you so much!
Hi Kelly and Noel love you
Hello Adriana!! Hope you're having a good week!
Hello Pauline from Tennessee hot here too.
Hey Ladies! A little late catching up with some episodes I missed, so it was nice to join you here today! Lots of inside knitting lately with the heat... and it was fun to have a look at the patterns you have mentioned... always neat to see about designers or patterns I haven't heard of. Hope your week is going well, and I probably won't catch you live tonight, but I'll look forward to watching that one too! Cheers, Judith 💜💚
Thank you Judith, you are quite an inspirational knitter yourself! Have a wonderful week.
Great video! Enjoyed it a lot.
Awesome, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, happy knitting.
Thanks Kelly for this amazing recap of the weekend. So grateful for my knitting friends!
Thank YOU! I could not imagine a more perfect weekend!
I have what I thnk is a basic question. How do you measure the size your item is to be blocked to. Thanks
Good question! We covered this question in tonight's episode (Jun 25), let us know if that helped.
Great video! I also have the Animal Friends book (along with 2 of her others ). I can’t wait to make something from one of them!
I looking forward to the knit but very much enjoy just looking through the book!
Another great podcast. I'm working on the Shorty Heel Tab socks as I watch your show.
I just can't stop casting them on!
Love it when kelly as a,chance to chat on here .. Smooth relax voice From... Thr uk 🎉
😊 thank you
You two are amazing! I wanted to make you aware, in case you didn’t already know, that Paton has a linen/cotton blend. It comes in 100 gram skeins. I live in the U.S. and paid $5.99 for 1 skein on Joann’s website. Take care! Cindy
Thanks for sharing this Cindy!
Feel free to chat as long as you like. I enjoy all your chats:)
Thank you Brit, that's very kind. Happy Knitting!
Thanks for all the wonderful information and inspiration.
You're so welcome! Thank you for joining us in the Knit Chat Cafe!
I’m a Scorpio also😊😊😊
Yeah Scorpios!!
Kelly I love the neutrals 😅 I've been tempted by those tiny scarfs but haven't taken the plunge yet 😊
They're so wearable...and quick!!
Very fun to watch you ladies! I can't always make a Tuesday but I watch later. The tank Noelle is working on reminds me of something I struggle with. I see that many popular tees and tanks are knit in the round with front & back portions knit flat. With plant fiber yarns, I see a distinct line when I do this because of my gauge difference in the round vs flat. I usually change needle sizes to minimize this but sometimes I can only get close to matching my gauge so I can still see a line where the fabric changes. Patterns usually just mention 1 needle size so I'm curious what your experience is.
Thanks Evelyn. I usually don’t see a difference in gauge when switching from in the round to flat and continue with the same needle size. I will bring this up on the next knitchat and see if others have any suggestions
Great video today. Love your knits and your chatter. 🇬🇧
Thank you so much!
Thanks for such an informative podcast. You are both so creative . You exude enthusiasm in all you do. Thank you! Thank you!!!❤😊
Thank you so much!
I am watching after the live for the first time after the event and enjoying the chat just as much as ever. Kelly, a bra is just a swimming suit top. No worries! Noelle, how long are your threads when you warp up your loom to get the three tea towels? I have the same loom and I am always guessing which I don't like. Love all your projects and tips and tricks. Stay cool!
I use a warp of 117” The towels are 30 inches plus 1 1/2 in on each end for the hem so 33 inches each then an inch between and the rest for the tie on. hope this helps
@@KnitsnPieces Yes! That really helps. Than you so much!
Thankyou Noelle I so needed this row gauge math. I have just cast on and I want a tighter gauge so my rows are shorter 🎉❤.
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have a link for the melody top?
The details are on my Ravelry page.
Love the longer podcasts!!!
There's quite a jump in the video at 33:08. I was waiting to hear more about Kelly knitting the Melody sweater (other than the suggestions about alternate yarns), but the video suddenly jumped to Noelle's sweater discussion.
Sorry, I'm not sure what happened there. You can find the details on my Ravelry page.
That unintentional bra flash must go down as THE golden moment of all your shows😂 Laughed so much, sorry hehe
Well, it's a little more funny today but I was mortified when it happened...I will be more careful moving forward! lol
Love the weaving! Noelle - how do you hem your towels?
Thank you!!! I machine zig zag at each end and then do a double fold and hand sew the hems.
Loved the travel vlog Kelly so keep those coming! Great job on your dress too - i was wondering if Thread and Sprout was your inspiration. I follow her too - just a whimsical designer! Love all your knits Noelle - that Rota top has been in my wish list since it was published. Looks gorgeous on you as does the one you are wearing. Thanks as always! :)
Thanks Beth, the Rota top is a great knit and perfect for this time of year. I purchased some Antigone this week and can’t wait to try it. All your garments knit with it look amazing.
